Our partner, Jorge Lagos, is always open to trying new coffee varietals on his farm. He has had great success with Java, a coffee originally from the Island of Java in Indonesia. This varietal grows exceptionally well in Nicaragua due to the rich soil and Jorge's impressive farming techniques. This Java maintains its original Indonesian DNA but it has a Nicaraguan twist that is sure to delight your taste buds.

Cup of Excellence winners are born and bred in this region. And skilled farmer Jorge Lagos knows how to use the lush rainforest microclimate to his advantage in growing all of the amazing coffee varietals on Finca Santa Teresa. This year’s crop in particular has benefited from a perfect balance of rain and sunshine, resulting in a rich flavor profile with notes of cherry, plum, and red wine.

We are extremely proud of our partnership with farmer Jaime Lovo, whose farm sits right on the Honduran border, in the northern region of Dipilto, Nicaragua. His dedication to quality over quantity is reflected in this exceptional coffee. We are thrilled to purchase his entire harvest each year, and even more excited to share that the quality has consistently improved over time. The latest harvest is particularly noteworthy. It features a Caturra varietal with delightful aromas from the surrounding citrus trees and a satisfyingly mellow undertone derived from the exceptionally fertile soil. This coffee is a testament to the passion and hard work that Jaime puts into his craft, and we are honored to be a part of it.
